Flood Risk Assessments
In 2009, the Irish Government issued the Planning System Flood Risk Management Guidelines, requiring Planning Authorities to adopt a sequential approach to flood risk assessment. Proposed development in flood risk areas are required to present a Flood Risk Assessment that demonstrates that the development will not be at risk from flooding and will not increase the risk of flooding elsewhere. The guidelines require that the Flood Risk Assessments are undertaken by a competent hydrologist.
WRE is a leading provider of Flood Risk Assessment consultancy in Ireland and our staff are well regarded by Local Authorities and the Office of Public Works. Our hydrologists are highly experienced in undertaking analysis to determine if a proposed development may be at risk from flooding. If a flood risk does exist, we can define necessary measures to protect the development from flooding and ensure that the development will not impact upon other properties.
Our analysis is undertaken in accordance with current national and international best practise.
