FRA FAQs

What are Flood Risk Assessments?

Flood Risk Assessments are reports that identify if a site may be subject to flood risks from different sources.  If a site is at flood risk, the report identifies mitigation measures that are required to protect a site and surrounding area from flooding.

Why are Flood Risk Assessments required?

The Planning System and Flood Risk Guidelines require planning authorities to ensure that a development will be not be subject to flooding or create flooding worse elsewhere.   Beyond statutory requirements a FRA also provides property owners, developers, engineers and architects with confidence that a property is appropriately safe guarded from flooding.
